Giraffe Lodge

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve Aldington Road Lympne, nr Hythe CT21 4PD

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve takes its luxury tented accommodation to new heights by offering the chance to get up close and personal with their mesmerising giraffe.

Formerly the Reserve’s multi award winning Livingstone Lodge, the newly named, Giraffe Lodge not only allows you to spend a magical night under the stars whilst overlooking the watering hole on the African experience, it could also bring you closer to the tallest animal in the world. Guests staying at Giraffe Lodge will be given the chance to feed giraffe from the balcony of the Laapa or head out for a special behind-the-scenes experience in the giraffe house itself.

A night away here will be the closest to an African escape as you can get. Other than access to their family of giraffe, guests will also be taken on a safari with the Reserve’s specialist rangers and be served a delicious four course buffet cooked on the open fire pit in the Laapa – a beautiful African wooden structure on stilts with breath-taking views out to the Kent coast.

The Giraffe Lodge adventure begins as you board a safari truck and journey through the Reserve to 100 acres of Kentish savannah, known as The African Experience, where black rhino and wildebeest can be seen roaming freely with zebra, ostrich and many more animals. On arrival at the luxury tents, most with en suite bathrooms, guests can take time to settle in with a drink on their private balcony and watch the animals bed down for the night.

The following morning, breakfast is served in the Laapa giving guests the chance to fuel with a Full English breakfast before venturing out further into the Reserve where they will discover more rare and endangered species, the South American and Asian experiences, Dinosaur Forest, Carnivore Territory and much more. Alternatively, guests can make more of their wild adventure and enjoy free entry to Port Lympne’s sister park, Howletts near Canterbury – home to the largest herd of African elephants in the UK!
