Local Produce

Gibbet Oak Farm Shop

Enjoy the very best of local produce in the heart of the Garden of England.

In Ashford and Tenterden you'll discover beautiful produce, alongside beautiful views.  Endless, irresistible options include fine wine, cider and beer; prime meat, veg and sweet treats.

Famously productive for centuries, this stunning sweep of Kent's Garden of England, still delivers the goods today.  Meet scores of local suppliers, and sample their super-fresh goods at regular Farmers' Markets in appealing Wye, Egerton and Rolvenden. Local farm shops overflow with fine foods.  Highlights include apples, cherries, pears, cobnuts and asparagus.

While Ashford and Tenterden's vineyards regularly clock up awards, local beer and cider makers excel too.  Pioneering Biddenden Vineyard not only produces fantastic wines, but complex ciders too.

The Old Dairy Brewery uses local water, malt and hops to create ales ranging from citrusy Red Top (3.8%), via caramel Copper Top (4.1%), to a punchy Tsar Top 10% stout.

The Kent Tea and Trading Company imports an astounding 320 speciality loose leaf teas.  It's also been roasting coffee for more than 30 years, and has more than 50 different blends, ready to dispatch from it's Pluckley base.

The area's finest fruit makes its way into the jars of the Wooden Spoon Preserving Company; award-winning producers of  jams, marmalades, jellies, sauces, compotes and curd - pick some up from Ashford's Visitor Information Centre.
